Now, please welcome your host, Chuck McSilver!
Chuck: Hello and welcome to another episode of Top of the Topics! The show where if you don’t know the news …
Audience: You Lose!
Chuck: Let’s meet today’s contestants: ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Will and Ting!
Chuck: Will, Ting, welcome to the show!
Both: Thanks Chuck!
Chuck: Will, welcome back! How are you feeling?
Will: Ready as ever!
Chuck: And Ting! Good to have you with us
Ting: I’m very nervous, Chuck!
Chuck: There’s nothing to be scared of! Come on, let’s go to Clever Corner and welcome back everyone’s favorite resident know-it-all, Sally Smartypants! Sally?
Sally: Thanks Chuck! Today’s Topic is: Summer Health!
Chuck: Fantastic … Will, Ting, I’ll give you a word, you give us a definition. First correct answer wins. Fingers on buzzers. Ready? … Word one: ‘Monkeypox’ Ting.
Ting: You know Chickenpox and Smallpox?
Chuck: Yes …
Ting: Well, it’s like them, but it turns you into a monkey!
Chuck: Haha! Wrong answer, but I like the way you think! Will, wanna give it a try?
Will: It’s a virus, Chuck. Spread from animals to humans
Chuck: Correct! Sally?
Sally: You were close, Ting! Monkeypox is a lot like Smallpox, but it’s harder to get and much less severe. Symptoms include a high temperature, aches, chills, and a rash
Chuck: Word two: ‘Symptoms’ Ting.
Ting: When you have a fever or feel dizzy or something, it’s all signs from your body telling you you’re sick
Chuck: Correct! One point each. Sally?
Sally: The WHO has labelled the current Monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency. Anyone with low immunity should be extra careful
Chuck: Word three: ‘Immunity’ Ting
Will: It’s a word to describe how good your body is at fighting disease and infection
Chuck: Correcticus Potts! Two points, Ting. Sally?
Sally: Other common summer illnesses in Taiwan to be wary of include Dengue Fever and Japanese Encephalitis, which are both spread through mosquito bites, and of course, the coronavirus.
Chuck: Word four: ‘Wary’ Ting
Ting: Careful, cautious!
Chuck: That’s it! We’ve run out of time, and Ting is our winner with 3 points! Congrats!
Ting: Wow! I can’t BELIEVE IT!
Sally: And remember, if anyone is worried at all about their health, they should seek medical advice as soon as possible.
Chuck: Thank you Sally!
