社群演算法 ~~對行銷及使用者有甚麼影響

Now, please welcome your host, Chuck McSilver!

Chuck: Hello and welcome to another episode of Top of the Topics! The show where if you don’t know the news …

Audience: You Lose!

Chuck: Let’s meet today’s contestants: ladies and gentlemen, it’s Jessie and Jay!

Chuck: Jessie, Jay, welcome to the show!

Both: Thanks Chuck!

Chuck: Jessie! This is your fourth time here! That’s a record, how does it feel?!

Jessie: Crazy, Chuck!

Chuck: I bet! Jay, you think she’ll win again?

Jay: Not if I can help it!

Chuck: Nice! Let’s get going, with a trip to Clever Corner and everyone’s favorite resident know-it-all, Sally Smartypants! Sally?

Sally: Thanks Chuck! Today’s Topic is: Social Media Algorithms!

Chuck: OK … Jessie, Jay, I’ll give you a word, you give us a definition. First correct answer wins. Fingers on buzzers. Ready? … Word one: ‘Algorithms’ Jay.

Jay: They’re just sets of rules, right? For solving a problem.

Chuck: Could you give us an example?

Jay: Well, for things like Facebook or Youtube the problem is showing people all the stuff they might want to see, so the algorithm fixes that

Chuck: Correct! Sally?

Sally: Most social media algorithms work on user behavior, identifying what people like and finding them similar content based on buzzwords, topics, and other tools.

Chuck: Word two: ‘Buzzwords’ Jessie.

Jessie: Currently popular words or phrases, like ‘metaverse’ or ‘BOPIS’.

Chuck: Correct! What’s a BOPIS?

Jessie: It’s an acronym, it means ‘Buy Online Pay In Store’

Chuck: Whoa! Very impressive! I think she’s after your job Sally!

Sally: I think you’re right!

Chuck: Let’s keep going, before she takes mine too! One point each, next word please …

Sally: Figures show there are almost 4 billion social media users worldwide. Thanks to these algorithms every account is unique, and everyone has their own curated online experience

Chuck: Word three: ‘Curated’ Jay

Jay: It’s when a group of things have been carefully chosen and put together, usually by an expert

Chuck: That’s it! That sound means we’ve run out of time, and we have a new winner: with two points, it’s Jay! Sally, tell him what he’s won!

Sally: Our exclusive Top of the Topics Trophy, a signed copy of Chuck’s best-selling autobiography ‘Hi-Ho, McSilver’; and the chance to defend your new title right here on the show!

Chuck: Amazing stuff! Weren’t they great, guys?
