Cindy: Thanks Chuck! It’s great to be here!

Chuck: It’s good to see you again, Cindy! Where’s Sally?

Cindy: She’s watching her basketball team play tonight! Which brings us nicely on to Today’s Topic …

Chuck: The NBA?

Cindy: That’s right!

Chuck: Alright! Mary, Paul, you know how this works! I’ll give you a word, you give us a definition. First correct answer wins. Fingers on buzzers. Ready? Let’s go … Word one: ‘Playoffs’ Mary.

Mary: A big basketball competition in the USA?

Chuck: Correct! One point. Cindy?

Cindy: The NBA Playoffs are a popular annual postseason basketball tournament.

Chuck: Word two: ‘Postseason’ Paul.

Paul: It’s what happens after the main season of basketball has ended, I think …

Chuck: Correct! One point each. Cindy?

Cindy: Only the best 16 teams are allowed to compete in the Playoffs, which is first divided in two: an Eastern Conference, and a Western Conference.

Chuck: Word three: ‘Conference’ Paul.

Paul: It’s like, when lots of people are all on the phone at the same time, right?

Chuck: Ooo! Very close Paul! But remember, Today’s Topic is ‘The NBA’. Mary, any ideas?

Mary: Well, one’s in the East, and one’s in the West … it sounds like it’s a group of teams who all play against each other …

Chuck: Correct-a-mundo! Cindy?

Cindy: The remaining team from each Conference then progresses to the final round to decide the league champion!

Chuck: Uh-oh! That sound means we’ve run out of time, let’s take a look at the scores … Paul you have one point, but Mary you’re today’s winner!

Mary: Wow, I don’t believe it!
