Host: A sum of money paid annually to the government, based on the amount an individual has earned.

Voice: Why?

Host: Income tax payments usually go towards helping communities, by funding public services.

Voice: Who?

Host: Anyone who earns money in Taiwan has to pay income tax. Some foreign residents may need to pay more, depending on how long they’ve been living in Taiwan.

Voice: How?

Host: The easiest and quickest way to file your taxes is through the Ministry of Finance’s website.

Voice: Where?

Host: You can reach the website online via your phone, tablet or any other device. Otherwise, visit your local tax office to pay in person.

Voice: When?

Host: Usually in Taiwan income tax has to be filed before the end of May. This year people have until June 30th.
